Chancery Court Judge Randy "Bubba" Pierce To Run for Mississippi Supreme Court

Chancery Court Judge and former State Legislator Randy "Bubba" Pierce of Leakesville announced today that he will be a candidate for the Mississippi Supreme Court; District 2, Place 2 in November.

"My campaign for Supreme Court will be about legal integrity. I believe that the Supreme Court should not make laws, but rather correctly interpret our current laws," stated Pierce. He added, "As a Supreme Court Justice, I will ensure that our laws protect our families and businesses and that Mississippi is a place where fair and swift justice prevail."

"As a husband, a father, a Chancery Court Judge and a former member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, I know and understand that integrity and justice go hand-in-hand," stated Pierce.

Prior to being named Chancery Court Judge for Greene, George and Jackson Counties by Governor Haley Barbour, Pierce was a practicing attorney and represented District 105 in the Mississippi House of Representatives.

Pierce grew up in the Unity Community of Greene County and he and his family reside there. He graduated from Leakesville High School in 1982. He attended Jones County Junior College in 1984-1985, transferred to The University of Southern Mississippi in the fall of 1985, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting in 1987. He then became a certified public accountant before receiving his Masters Degree in Business Administration from USM. Later he attended and graduated from The University of Mississippi School of Law, where he served as President of the Law School Student Body.

In the House of Representatives, Pierce served as Chairman of the House Education Committeeand Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Education. He also served on the Agriculture, Corrections, Transportation, Forestry and Judiciary committees.

Pierce is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, the Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Pierce has been married to the former Gayla Smith for twenty-five years and has three children: Tiffany, Brantley and Anna Grace. He and Gayla also have three grandchildren.
